What is the need for this project?
(To be updated)
We recognize that in Colombia and specifically in the cultural realities where the main Seed Territories are located, there is a crisis in our relationships as human beings and with Nature that has as consequences: 1. High rates of family violence in people’s relationships. 2. Personal, interpersonal and familiar desintegrations. 3. High rates of environmental contamination. 4. Hunger, malnutrition and sickness. 5. Significantly high rates of unemployment. 6. Lack of knowledge in how to relate in a healthy way with ourselves, with each other and with nature. 7. Loss of biological and cultural biodiversity. 8. Loss of ancestral knowledge
The learning alternatives that are being raised today throughout the world, some from ancestral communities and others from new libertarian perspectives, have shown that the current structure of education is destroying us, focusing on human capacity to produce money and exploit resources. We need new perspectives and ways of learning that strengthen and update the old paradigm and remember the ways of organisation in labour and habitat that brings us closer to our human and environmental nature. In the exchange of learning there is a need for change, especially in colonised countries that have lost so much of their ancestral originary roots and traditions, as is the case for all countries in Latin America. We have the strong conviction that we can create the spaces and tools necessary for an autonomous and respectful education in order to help regenerate our communities, nurturing the know-hows, and to weave with the new tools and ancestral technologies that are being developed today in our country, in the region and in the world.
Who will benefit?
People (students, communities)
The main community that MUMAY envisions to impact are students, change-makers, who can be individuals, couples or families from 15 to 60 years of age who understand spanish. Students that course the MASTAY Path are influential communitarian leaders, local or foreigners, of diverse socio-economic levels, multipliers of the mission and interested in developing at a holistic level.
-
Social leaders, teachers and young students that stand out in their previous educational institutions with an inclusive ethnic focus of gender, age, sexual orientation and physical abilities.
-
Children accompanied by their families
-
Young students that want to underftake a professional career as Native Permaculturs
-
Elders of all traditions
-
Influential leaders in a vulnerable social and economic level who don’t have access to qualified education, good nutrition of job opportunities and/or are victims of violence.
How will the community maintain this project
-
By strengthening pro-active leaders who are driven to keep sharing activities in their localities and, as a requirement, implementing their entrepreneurship projects, developed in their 2 year MASTAY path, in at least one of the Guardian Territories.
-
Empowering and involving local communities in the MASTAY path processes where mentors and students serve as inspiration and examples for them to sustain the different regenerative practices: food gardens, clear water systems, participate in the shared-governance process within the Mother Houses, keep communitarian spaces clean and active.
-
The MASTAY Path will inspire leaders to expand hope and keep co-creating a beautiful New Humanity,
Sustainability strategy after the first funds for support are invested:
-
Student’s tuitions
-
Multiplication and productivity of the pedagogic content generated in every stage
-
Opened learning circles and ceremonies held in the Ancestral Mother Houses for communitarian shared-governance
-
Crowd-funding/presentation campaigns to keep supporting the construction of Ancestral Mother Houses (as we have already been doing for the last years)
